Maria's Surrounded By Design results

I tried the Surrounded by Design challenge, and this is what I got:

From a wee bit of this dress:

I got this winter scene:

And from part of this theater curtain:

I made this mossy cave:

They're really more thumbnails than finished pieces, but I just wanted to experiment with texture and color for the moment. My backgrounds are pretty abysmal, and I think either of these would be an improvement over what I've done in the past. So, success! I may have to do more of these in the future, and keep them around for environment ideas.

  1. I love the second one! Would never have thought to use the folds of the fabric in that way! Really like the colour scheme too...

  2. I love the cave! It would have never occurred to me, but now it seems like a natural choice :)

  3. What great results, Maria! From a dress to a wintery forest? That's an awesome jump in imagination and it works so wonderfully. I'm really intrigued by the cave and get the most narrative sense from that environment, if you were looking into pushing it more into a mood/narrative piece. Glad you tried this exercise out! It's been so fascinating seeing what everyone gets through it.

Just proves the overactive imagination most of us have.
